Early notice of key gas upgrade works planned for Cookstown in 2026
Posted: 04 Dec, 2025
Evolve has announced early plans for important gas expansion works in Cookstown, scheduled to commence in January 2026. The programme will take place in the town centre for a number of months, with additional works in parts of the surrounding area. Further details will be shared in due course.
To help minimise disruption, temporary traffic management measures may be required throughout the course of the works. These could include short-term road closures, single lane closures and traffic control systems. Motorists, residents and businesses can keep up to date with the latest plans as they become available here: evolvenetwork.co.uk/roadworks
Upon completion, the upgrade will increase capacity on the Cookstown network, ensuring many more homes and businesses can connect to Evolve’s state-of-the-art gas infrastructure. This will futureproof the town centre and enable customers to instantly reduce their carbon emissions while enjoying the wider benefits of gas.
Mark Davidson, Head of Engineering at Evolve, said: “By issuing this early notice, we want to ensure the local community is aware of the important upgrade works planned for 2026. These improvements will enhance the network and allow more residents and businesses to connect to gas and benefit from cleaner, more efficient energy. We thank the Cookstown community for their support during the upcoming works programme.”
Evolve recently celebrated its 5000th connection, just five years after the network officially went live in 2020, amid growing demand for gas connections from local residents and businesses throughout the west of Northern Ireland.
