One way closure announced for gas expansion works

One way closure announced for gas expansion works

Posted: 30 Jun, 2026

Commencing 14th July 2026, initial works will take place across Northland Row,
Northland Place and Ranfurly Road, with this phase estimated to take two to three
weeks to complete. A wider programme of works in the town centre is planned to
follow in August, with further communications to be issued as the programme
progresses.

To manage traffic during the works, a one-way closure will be in place for inbound
traffic heading towards the town centre. Motorists travelling inbound are advised to
follow the signed diversion via Wellington Road, Milltown Road, Railway Road,
Ballygawley Road, Newell Road, Quarry Lane and Circular Road. Normal traffic flow
will be maintained for outbound journeys.

Residents, businesses and motorists are encouraged to plan journeys in advance and
keep up to date with the latest information via the dedicated roadworks section of the
Evolve website: evolvenetwork.co.uk/roadworks

Upon completion, these enhancements will increase capacity on the Dungannon
network, enabling more homes and businesses to connect to Evolve's gas
infrastructure and enjoy the immediate benefits of a cleaner, more efficient energy
system.

Mark Davidson, Head of Engineering at Evolve, said: "We thank the Dungannon
community for their patience and cooperation during these works. We will do
everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum and encourage motorists to
check our website and plan ahead where possible. As we work to enhance the local
infrastructure, we are delighted that many more homes and businesses in
Dungannon will soon have access to our state-of-the-art network to enjoy the
immediate and long-term benefits of gas."

History was made in Dungannon back in 2023, as Evolve facilitated the first-ever
direct-to-grid injection of biomethane on the island of Ireland, in what was a
landmark moment for the decarbonisation of energy.

The integration of renewable and sustainable energy sources into existing gas grids
has also been identified as a crucial step by government. Connecting to the gas
network to take advantage of the plan to fully decarbonise the gas being used is a
recommendation in the Northern Ireland Executive’s Path to Net Zero Energy
Strategy.
