SGN Natural Gas has just completed a series of information sessions organised to update local residents, businesses and elected representatives about the construction of the new mains gas network which is currently well underway in the Western area.

Information sessions were held in four towns across Counties Tyrone and Fermanagh as part of ongoing community engagement in the areas where the energy infrastructure is being built.

Key members of the project team including liaison managers, engineers, contractors and communications resources were present to engage directly with the public who attended drop-in sessions in Cookstown, Lisnaskea, Omagh and Enniskillen.

The roadshow event enabled all manner of queries to be addressed including future timescales for domestic and business connections to the new network which will bring natural gas to around 40,000 customers in eight towns over the next 40 years.

Venues were selected across the main build area in consultation with local business and civic leaders to maximise opportunities for the project team to engage directly with the public and other key stakeholders in the main build areas.

The venues included the Burnavon Theatre (Cookstown), Donn Carragh Hotel (Lisnaskea), Strule Arts Centre (Omagh) and Fermanagh House (Enniskillen).

The visitors who were all warmly welcomed to the information sessions included local residents, business and community representatives, MP/representatives, MLAs and Councillors.

A further series of information sessions will be scheduled in the coming months to ensure the public are kept fully informed at key stages in this significant energy infrastructure project which is extending the availability of natural gas in the Western region.
