As part of Gas Safety Week 2024, Holy Trinity College in Cookstown welcomed Evolve, the gas network operator for the west of Northern Ireland, to deliver an engaging and informative workshop aimed at raising awareness about gas safety.
The workshop, designed to educate students about the Evolve gas network, how it operates, and the importance of gas safety, covered a range of essential topics, including the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, the potential risks of carbon monoxide (CO), and what to do if you smell gas.
Gas Safety Week serves as a reminder for the public to keep themselves gas safe, with the theme this year being ‘Checking – Every Check Counts’, emphasising the importance of, amongst other things, regular gas safety checks.
Evolve Holy Trinity Cookstown_2992.jpg1.79 MBDominic Scullion, Safety, Health & Environment Manager at Evolve, said: “Safety remains a top priority for Evolve, and delivering these educational workshops underscores our commitment to raising awareness of gas safety within the communities we serve.
“By engaging students, we’re helping to ensure that the next generation understands the importance of safety checks and can carry these messages forward. As long-standing supporters of Gas Safety Week, we’re proud to collaborate with local schools and other stakeholders to promote gas safety and safeguard our communities.”
